U2 has a song called “Crumbs From Your Table” that has been criticized for having cheesy lyrics. For me, there is one set of lyrics that justifies the song entirely:

Where you live should not decide
Whether you live or whether you die

Here, a declaration of human rights: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (Declaration of Independence). The right of life is endowed to us by our Creator, but stewardship rests with the created beings in the fear of God. To honor life is to protect it.

To love God is to love ones neighbor.

As Christmas approaches, I think to myself, what gift can I give and to whom? How can I properly express my love for God? Consider this from a nurse in Zimbabwe:

For only $50 you can provide a clean mattress for a patient to sleep on. The ones we currently have are over 10 years old and all the plastic has come off, leaving only the foam… and can you say EEEEEWWW!!!!! We are working towards purchasing 100 mattresses so that all of our patients can have a clean place to sleep. Thank you!

I’m not merely plugging this opportunity to give, but explaining how it is we ought to live. Religion that is pure and honorable before God is caring for the weak and dispossessed (cf. James 1:27). This is our religion, our way of worship.
