Maine voters repealed a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed… Gay marriage has now lost in every single state — 31 in all — in which it has been put to a popular vote.

If words have meaning, there is a case for heterosexual marriage, and little for homosexual marriage. Ultimately, gay-rights activists want to “undefine” the word marriage to mean just about whatever anyone should want. How extending the benefit to gays and only gays (see here) is asserting a civil right is frankly not apparent to the average voter.
