At 18, I converted from Catholicism to Protestantism. At 39, I question the phrasing of that statement, particularly the use of the preposition from. What I converted from was my former life, not a particular religious view. I converted to God. While I am not at peace with every Catholic doctrine, I do not view Catholics as “unChristians.” Nor do I view all Protestant beliefs as orthodox. Rather, what matters is which way a man faces in relation to God.
